NovelCrafted Writer Agreement
These terms apply to people who publish and sell stories ("Stories") as Writers on NovelCrafted. They work together with our Platform Policies: Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy.
Becoming a Writer
To sell Stories and get paid, you'll need:
- A NovelCrafted account with a verified email in good standing.
- A PayPal account in good standing (business or seller-eligible), with a verified email.
- PayPal's onboarding completed (a one-time process to enable payouts).
- To follow all applicable laws where you live and sell (including tax laws) and PayPal's policies.
You are the Merchant of Record
You set your price (including "free," if you want) and sell directly to Players. Players buy from you, not from NovelCrafted. NovelCrafted provides the game engine, authoring tools, and marketplace.
You Own Your Work
You keep 100% ownership of your Stories and all intellectual property rights.
To run the platform, you grant NovelCrafted a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, cache, store, display, perform, transmit, reproduce, and technically adapt your Stories so Players can discover, purchase, read, and play them. You also allow us to use your title, cover, short excerpts, tags, and public pen name to promote your Stories.
This license ends when you unpublish/remove a Story, except we may retain/serve copies needed to (a) let prior buyers keep the access you promised at purchase, (b) comply with law, or (c) enforce Platform Policies.
Pricing and Taxes
- You set the price for each Story (including free).
- As the Merchant of Record, you're responsible for your own taxes.
Payments, Payouts, and Our Commission
Payments are processed by PayPal. Money goes directly to your PayPal account at checkout.
- NovelCrafted takes a simple 10% platform commission per sale, collected automatically at checkout via PayPal's platform/partner-fee mechanism. You authorize PayPal to route this commission to NovelCrafted.
- PayPal also charges its standard processing fees to you; those fees vary by region and account type. Please review PayPal's schedule.
Refunds
Story purchases are non-refundable by default.
- You may choose to refund a buyer at your discretion in your PayPal dashboard. If you refund, PayPal's fees and the NovelCrafted platform commission are not refunded (unless required by law or PayPal rules).
- Chargebacks and payment disputes are handled by PayPal. You're responsible for responding to disputes. We may suspend your NovelCrafted Writer privileges if chargeback rates are high.
The NovelCrafted commission and PayPal payment processor fees are non-refundable.
Publishing, Unpublishing, and Removals
You can unpublish and completely your Stories from NovelCrafted at any time. Buyers who already purchased should retain the access you described at purchase, unless removal is required by law or due to Platform Policy/PayPal AUP violations.
We may remove or restrict Stories that violate Platform Policies, applicable law, PayPal rules, or pose risk to Players, NovelCrafted, or third parties.
Content Standards and Your Promises
You promise that:
- You own or control the rights to upload, sell, and license your Stories.
- Your Stories are lawful, comply with the Platform Policies, and don't infringe on anyone's rights.
- Your Story information (descriptions, claims, pricing) are accurate and not misleading.
If we receive IP or legal complaints (e.g., DMCA), we may disable access while we investigate and share necessary contact details as required by law to authorities.
Updates and Live Ops
You control your Story's updates and schedule. If you substantially change a Story after purchase, avoid removing access to content already promised to buyers. If you ship episodic content, be transparent about scope and cadence.
Term, Suspension, and Termination
You can stop being a Writer at any time by unpublishing your Stories. We may suspend or terminate Writer access for violations of these terms, Platform Policies, law, or risk/fraud concerns. Sections that reasonably should survive (ownership, licenses granted for prior purchases, payments/fees, liability limits, disputes) survive termination.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms over time. If changes are material, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you (e.g., email or in-Platform notice). Continuing to publish or sell Stories after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
If You Don't Agree
If you don't agree to these Writer terms, please don't enroll as a Writer or list Stories for sale. You can still read and buy Stories as a Player subject to the Platform Policies.
